Meet us at the Tourist Information Office located in Civic Center Square to kick off our mountain adventure from Bariloche.
Our adventure begins strolling through Bariloche's German Quarter. Leaving the city center behind, we'll dive into the heart of the Patagonian Forest, embarking on an uphill hike along the slopes of Cerro Otto. As we ascend, we'll be treated to a stunning view of the mountains and lakes that surround the cityscape.
During the hike, we'll share stories about the routes once taken by the pioneering German mountaineer, Otto Meiling, who left his mark on this Argentine region. After approximately two hours of climbing, covering a distance of about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), we'll reach the renowned Berghof refuge. This place, originally used as his residence eventually transformed into the first ski center in South America, leaving a lasting legacy.
We'll also pay a visit to the Casa del Montañés Museum at the Berghof Lodge, where we'll immerse ourselves in the rich history of Otto Meiling and discover the profound significance of his legacy to Bariloche. Following the museum visit, you'll have some free time to explore the refuge at your own pace and enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the local restaurants.
After 4 hours of exploration, we'll conclude our tour at the refuge. If you prefer, we'll gladly assist you in arranging private transportation for your return journey to Bariloche.
